Nepal Adventure Holidays
Nepal. The roof of the World? Well yes of course, and tourism to Nepal is now the largest source of foreign exchange and revenue, and after political upheavals in recent times there has probably never been a better time to visit. Tourism did take a sharp dip towards the end of the monarchy in 2007, but in May 2008 became a republic.
The main attraction is the fact that Nepal boasts 8 of the 10 highest mountains in the World, and with Everest and Annapurna is a haven to adventurous travellers and trekkers. And the people of Nepal are so welcoming it makes every visit an absolute pleasure.
We feature over 80 tours to Nepal, including many Family Adventure Holidays, and many favourite trips are there including numerous Everest Base Camp treks and tours of the Annapurna circuit, right through to overland journeys from Nepal through to India.
Some basic FAQ’s on Nepal:
When to go? Climate is important when deciding when to visit Nepal, and the reason for your visit. The best time is probably October and November after the monsoon season, as the weather is pleasantly warm and the countryside is green and lush. There can be some problems with infrastructure due to monsoon damage which may not be fixed, but it’s unusual that this will present insurmountable problems. February to April is the second best time to go, at the end of the dry season, but it can get very dusty on road trips. December and January – well in simple terms it’s cold. If you’re trekking get the best and warmest sleeping bag money can buy.
Do I need a Visa? Yes, all nationalities need a Visa to visit Nepal, but for most it is available on arrival. We’ll suggest you download the form before you go to save time, and in our experience it only takes about 20 minutes to go through immigration anyway. The cost is US$25 for a 15 day Visa, or US$40 for a 30 day visa.
Do I need Immunizations? For a short visit to Nepal, it is recommended to get immunized against Diphtheria, Hepatitis A and Tetanus. There is also a very slight risk of Malaria. Your Doctor will be able to provide more information.
